Allergies

SHOTS AND MORE

Has your child been identified with seasonal respiratory or other allergies? To help you undergo a convenient desensitization schedule, we can administer weekly, bi-weekly or monthly allergy shots at our office. Your child will need to stay for a minimum of 30 minutes after the injection was administered to ensure that there is no serious reaction.

Travel Consultations

GOING ABROAD?

No matter where your destination might be, we will review your itinerary and discuss any health and safety recommendations for your child and family. We will update any necessary routine immunizations, and provide you with information about other recommended vaccines for your travel destination.

Older Children

AGES 11 TO 21 YEARS

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends annual well-care visits during adolescence to promote healthy behaviors, prevent risky ones, and detect conditions that can interfere with your teen’s physical, social, and emotional development. Dr.Sabine’s comprehensive well-care includes: A physical exam, Immunizations, Screening questionnaires, Developmental assessment, Oral health risk assessment and referral for specialized care if necessary.

Specialty Visits

While we are intentionally small, Washington International Pediatrics is a full-service pediatrics practice, and our services go beyond the average practice. WIP offers:

Prenatal Visits: Dr. Sabine enjoys meeting expectant families as the first step towards a long-term relationship.

Wart Removal: Right in the WIP office! Instead of the unpleasant freezing, Dr. Sabine will scrape surface tissue off the wart and then apply her “beetle juice,” which typically resolves the nagging wart in one, two or three sessions.

School, camp and sport examinations: If you need a health form for your child to join a school, university or visit a camp, or if you need clearance for your child to participate in a sport, we will assist you with that. Our team will either give you the form at the same time of the visit, or we will email or mail the form in a timely manner back to you. If you visit our parent portal, you can download the standard DC or Maryland health certificate for your child right from your home.

Consultations:  At WIP we are trained in the management of common medical and mental health related problems in children including sleep problems, problems at school, behavioral issues, eating disorders, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder management. Most of these issues will be handled by Dr. Sabine during routine office visits.

Dr. Sabine may recommend further consultations with a medical or mental-health specialist. In this case, we will help you identify an appropriate pediatric specialist. We work closely with most pediatric specialties in the greater Washington Metropolitan area and will facilitate getting your child the care he or she needs from reliable practitioners.

Sick Visits

Whether your child has an acute onset of sore throat or more complex concerns like recurrent headaches, at WIP we want to promptly diagnose the problem and provide adequate treatments.  WIP offers same-day sick visits as well as longer, more complex sick visits to appropriately handle the concern.

Well-Child Visits

Childhood is a time of rapid growth and change. WIP’s comprehensive well-care visits include, a physical exam, vision and hearing screenings, immunizations, over-all developmental assessment in order to find or prevent problems.

Prenatal Care

We love to meet expectant parents! As a first step towards establishing a long term relationship, this visit will give you the opportunity to become acquainted with WIP and ask questions about the practice.

Young Children

AGES 3 TO 10 YEARS

Annual exams are recommended throughout childhood, as this is a time of rapid growth and change. Once your children begin school, their social and emotional needs will change and their illnesses may come more often. Whether you need a health form, flu shot, clearance to play a sport, or just a check-in we have you covered.

Infants and Toddlers

INFANTS TO AGE 3

Children have more well-child visits when they are younger and annually after three years of age. At these visits, our providers will check your child’s growth, overall well-being and development in order to find or
prevent problems. At our practice, we will administer immunizations as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and perform annual vision and hearing screenings.
